Grains as Mains


I have been working recently on a book focusing on grains as the main feature of the dish.
Common grains such as rice and bulgur wheat and more unusual ones like teff and amaranth were transformed into flavoursome meals, perfect for any palette.

I am happy with how the photographs have come out- bright and colourful with the food popping out from the neutral props. 





Most of the images for this collection were shot overhead which gave a nice consistency throughout and a real graphic quality to the splats of dressing, sprinklings of herbs and the textures of the grains featured. Grains may have a reputation of being a bit bland, however I feel these images make them fresh, exciting and current.
